On the Mountain

Plan to use the FREE shuttle to the mountain, group dinner and more. Click the buttons below to see how. Shuttles run every 30 minutes.

Please add the Park City Ski Patrol phone number: (435) 615-1911 to your contacts.

  • We will be using Whats App to communicate.  Not everyone has the same types of phone (iPhones or Androids), so Whats App has provided us a good communication alternative that is device agnostic.  All the places we’ve skied recently have great phone service on the slopes as well.  Plus, if you’ve never used Internet Calling before, it’s a great app, and you can call (even video call) most anyone in the world for free. We have a group called Park City Ski Trippers and invited everyone to join, but you may need to download the app first.
  • Hopefully everyone has added the other Trippers to their contacts.  Feel free to setup your own groups in WhatsApp, Messenger, or whatever.  Especially if you find a couple others you’d like to ski with, or meet for lunch.  Of course, you can always invite everyone.
  • We have American flag bandanas that we tie to the backs of our ski helmets.  They’ve been provided with your trip gift.  Many of you already have them, so please bring them.  Those that still need one, just let me know.  You don’t have to wear them, but it’s always fun to spot members of our group via these flags (and patriotic to boot), plus the lifties often comment on them and if you’re meeting other group members to ski, lunch, etc. it makes it easier than trying to memorize faces and ski apparel.
  • I never recommend skiing alone if you can avoid it.  Some of my best epic falls have been while alone – so no one was there to catch the glory of it while I was bouncing/sliding down the hill.  Seriously, it’s always good to have someone you know with you in case something does happen, even to retrieve a pole or give you a hand getting back up.  I’ve found the best way is to simply talk to the other Trippers and ask what types of terrain they like and then ask if they’d like to meet up or ski together etc. Plenty of time on the bus, airplane, shuttle for this.
  • Most Ski Lifts open at 9:00am and close at 4:00 – click here to see full schedule.
  • .Gondolas are a bit different.  Here is their schedule:
Gondola Name Lift Type Hours of Operation
Quicksilver Gondola 8 person Gondola 9:30 am – 3:30 pm
Cabriolet Open Air Gondola 7:00 am – 7:00 pm
Frostwood Gondola Pulse Gondola 8:00 am – 5:30 pm
Red Pine Gondola 8 person Gondola 9:00 am – 4:00 pm
  • Take pictures so we can share them with each other and for our Website.  You can air drop them to Amy or post on WhatsApp.
  • 'Lifties' are our friends and they’re standing out in the cold helping us for hours on end – they absolutely love it when you give them a candy, snack, small bottle of Fireball, or a thank you!  Plus they WILL remember you – especially if you have your flag on your helmet.
  • It’s always great to meet up with other group members for lunch.  Here are suggestions while skiing the mountain at Park City/Canyons. Also, remember that your Epic Pass will get you 20% off food.

    • Tombstone Grill - Located at the Mountain Village Adventure Park, refuel with BBQ favorites..
    • Mid-Mountain Lodge – After dreamy powder laps off McConkey's, stop into this historic lodge for Hawaiian style roast chicken, colorful salads, and fulfilling bowls. Accessible from the McConkey's, Pioneer, and Bonanza lifts from Mid Mountain Meadows and Mid Mountain Cutoff.
    • Miners Camp - Conveniently located at the base of Silverlodge Lift and Quicksilver Gondola with all your classic ski resort favorites.
    • Lookout Cabin - Enjoy an elevated dining experience on-mountain, literally. Reservations recommended. Located at the mid station of   the Orange Bubble Express
    • Red Pine Lodge – Located at the top of Red Pine Gondola, Red Pine Lodge is perfect for a quick lunch before getting back on the slopes.
    • Summit House - Located in the heart of Park City Mountain at the top of Bonanza Lift stop in Summit House (for lunch with a view.
    • Sun Lodge - Southwest flair at the base of Sunpeak Lift.
    • Cloud Dine - At the top of Dreamscape and Dreamcatcher lifts
  • If you enjoy company while eating – let everyone else know your plans (via WhatsApp). It’s always nice to hear stories from others at mid-day; what runs are in great shape, which ones are not, brag about how many flips you did in the park with that perfect 10 landing! Send out your plans as early as possible, as sometimes it takes a while to get to the various restaurants depending where you are on the mountain.  Then – just look for the flags!
  • If you’d like to be able to track others (with their agreement of course), there are phone apps to do this if you all have the same type (Apple or Android). As a general (non device specific) suggestion to everyone, I suggest using Google Maps to share your location (on any phone type).
    • Open Google Maps and tap the blue dot that shows your location.
    • Tap “Share Location” below, then select the person/people you want to share your location with. Make sure that you change the default of “1 hour” to “until you turn this off”. You can cancel this at any time and I’ll remind you on the trip home.
    • Then just tap “Share”. Boom – you’re all set and now you can see where those people are.
    • Plus it’s always a great safety tool, if you go off-piste, get lost, or have an issue. Whomever you shared your location with can locate you (even in the Hot Tub).
    • Don’t forget to stop sharing your location at the end of the trip.
